Canadian Youth Climate Action Award
Pivot Green connects and celebrates people, businesses, and communities with stories and ideas to inspire restorative climate action and social justice. Pivot Green strongly believes that minor lifestyle changes can often blossom into major societal changes.
The Canadian Youth Climate Action Award provides $1,500 and a plaque to the successful applicant. Two runner-up prizes of $500 each will also be awarded to projects of merit. The awards will be given to the programs/projects which best meet the Pivot Green mission and values. Our primary focus is to support young Canadians working together with other generations on positive, impactful ideas and actions that help address the climate challenges of our times.
Fundraising and campaign awareness for the Award will be done in partnership with the Small Change Fund. Communications and outreach to stakeholders will be coordinated with the Fund. Donors will be issued tax receipts and all financial matters will be administered by the Small Change Fund.
The Award will be given to the program/project that best meets the following criteria:
· Is primarily a youth-led, local, and community-based initiative
· Involves all age groups in its outreach and activities
· Has a positive environmental or social impact
· Leads to concrete, climate-friendly changes
· Has the potential to be replicated in other Canadian communities
Applications for the Award will be accepted beginning January 10, 2023, with a closing date of March 25, 2023. Award recipients will be announced on Earth Day 2023. Award winners will be asked to provide Pivot Green with an update on their activities every six months for a minimum of 1 year and to provide news items suitable for posting on the Small Change, Pivot Green website, and social media channels when available.
