Congratulations to The Gaia project for receiving a runner-up Canadian Youth Climate Action Award in recognition of their work combating climate change.
The Gaia Project is a New Brunswick-based environmental charity dedicated to empowering youth to take climate action through education. The Climate Action Project (CAP) program provides students the skills and mentorship to analyze climate issues and lead hands-on science or social science projects, driving meaningful local climate action.
The Climate Action Project program provides two distinct pathways—one focused on climate justice and another on climate science—while maintaining flexibility for interdisciplinary approaches. Students work together to design and lead research-driven projects. They incorporate what they’re learning in class by integrating topics from subjects like science, social studies, and civics. This results in community-based solutions to local issues. The program empowers youth to advocate for inclusive climate policies at the school and municipal levels while implementing sustainability initiatives with tangible benefits.
